Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and phones. It includes camera model, lens, exposure settings, date/time, GPS coordinates, and sometimes the camera's serial number.

Why should I view EXIF data?

To check what information you're sharing. Many people don't realize their photos contain GPS coordinates of their home, or camera details that can identify their device. EXIF data can also help photographers learn from others' settings.

Do all photos have EXIF data?

No. Screenshots, heavily edited images, and photos from some privacy-focused apps don't have EXIF. Most photos from phones and dedicated cameras do.
